Laboratory Introduction


The Taihu Laboratory of Deep Sea Technology Science (hereinafter referred to as "Taihu Laboratory") is a national laboratory for China Shipbuilding Corporation, Jiangsu Province and Wuxi City to thoroughly implement the innovation-driven development strategy implemented by the Party Central Committee, the major deployment of building a maritime power and General Secretary Xi Jinping's construction of a national laboratory. Important instructions, aiming at the strategic layout and local development needs of the national "14th Five-Year Plan" in the deep-sea frontier field, actively participating in the construction of national strategic forces in the deep-sea frontier field, undertaking major strategic tasks in the national deep-sea frontier field, in order to bravely climb the peak of deep-sea science and technology and promote the self-reliance of science and technology. Self-reliance contributes to Jiangsu's responsibility, CSSC's wisdom, and Wuxi's practice innovation carrier.

In October 2020, the laboratory completed the registration of an independent legal entity. On December 30, the laboratory was unveiled and awarded the Jiangsu Provincial Laboratory. Taihu Laboratory is jointly built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Jiangsu Province and Wuxi City. 1. Construction goals
In the start-up stage (before 2025), build a multidisciplinary, high-level talent team and an open and shared innovative research institution with a military-civilian integration, with an overall scale of about 1,000 people; By the end of the year, the number of scientific researchers will stabilize to 3,000, and a deep-sea technology scientific research center and talent training base will be built, becoming a strategic force to ensure national maritime security and promote the high-quality development of marine equipment.

2. Research direction
Taihu Laboratory is guided by the major strategic needs of the country, and carries out key core technology research in four research directions: "Basic Research and Common Technology", "Deep Sea Transport Technology", "Deep Sea Information Technology" and "Deep Sea Operation Support Technology". The discipline research and development system, the construction of key core technology integration system, and the comprehensive service of major strategic needs such as scientific research and resource development in the field of national deep-sea equipment.

3. Management system and operation mechanism
Establish the organizational structure of the council, the academic committee and the director committee, as well as the subordinate management functional agencies, scientific research business departments and public service platforms, implement the director responsibility system under the leadership of the council, and follow the research direction and scientific research tasks to be led by the chief scientist. Form the operation management system of "manager management" + "main construction" + "main battle" and a scientific research model in which project tasks are "unveiled and in command" and led by scientists.

4. Overall layout and construction planning
Adopting the "core + base + network" construction method, relying on China Shipbuilding No. 702 and the National Supercomputing Wuxi Center, with Wuxi Headquarters as the core, the Shanshui City Technology R&D Center and the Wanshan Lake Technology Transformation Center will be built, and integrated The resources of China Shipbuilding Corporation's "hole-pond-lake-sea" experimental research system and relevant resources of Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hainan and other provinces and cities have formed an overall layout of "one body with two wings, two lakes and five seas" across the country.
